The Chief Installation Liaison Officer (ILO) is an integral part of the Transport for Troops Installation Liaison Corps (ILC). The ILC serves as Transport for Troops’ service member support group and is tasked with raising awareness, funds, and assisting military families with their POV logistics as well as working to integrate Transport for Troops within each military installation.
The CILO is a mid-level volunteer for the ILC and is tasked with managing ILOs, education, advocacy, fundraising, and availability to accept inbound/outbound POV shipments as a designated representative where service members have no other point of contact to rely on. CILOs must monitor their installation chat thread within the online ILC community and reply to all POV shipment inquiries and/or delegate responsibilities to ILOs within their team. Once an ILO has volunteered to assist with a POV shipment, the CILO will put them in contact with the owner of the POV and expected to assist with sending/receiving that service member's vehicle(s).
The CILO will be responsible for:
- Launching fundraisers within their installation’s community
- Educate other military families & advocate for their PCS needs
- Recruit, train, and deploy teams of Installation Liaison Officers
- Present Transport for Troops to installation commands
- Participate in and contribute to weekly & monthly ILC standups
- Participate actively in ILC chats - help us build a stronger, nationwide community
POV assistance responsibilities include:
- Monitoring ILC community thread for all POV assistance requests
- Assign an ILO or take charge of assisting with the following
- Meeting assigned carriers at a predetermined location on behalf of incoming/outgoing service members. Meetings usually happen within 10 miles of the installation between the hours of 0800 - 2000 every day of the week.
- Signing the carrier’s vehicle condition report stating the vehicle(s) was sent/received in the notated condition, then notifying the owner of the vehicle and providing any documentation or communication to Transport for Troops via the appropriate ILC chat.
- Holding the vehicle(s) and key(s) for the service member. CILO’s will work to establish locations for holding POVs with the assistance of the installation command.
